Spring Break Camp: Focus on Nature

Aspiring shutterbugs can develop their skills by participating in this photography-inspired camp. Campers will learn about photo composition and storytelling, venture to Beacon Hill Park to capture dynamic nature shots and explore the Royal BC Museum’s natural history collection, as well as the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition.

Registered campers who need care before and/or after regular camp times of 9:00am - 4:00pm may sign up. To register for camp care, complete your camp registration first and then select "Continue Ordering" before you finish your order.

Archives Workshop: Writing Your Story

You’ve spent time researching your family history and developing your family tree, but you’re not sure what to do with that information. Meet genealogists and learn about the different ways they have shared their research with family members and the public – through social media, self-published accounts, and more. This workshop is done in partnership with the Greater Victoria Public Library and will take place at the GVPL central branch.

Drink, eat, meet and explore. Join us after work on Thursdays for themed happy hours in our permanent galleries.


Home Learners Series

Multiple four-week-long workshops are offered throughout the school year. Each series allows learners to deepen their connection to ideas inspired by the museum. The workshops are facilitated by museum staff and community members.

Grown-Up Day Camp

Reawaken your inner child and explore nostalgic summer camp themes with a grown-up twist. Sneak behind-the-scenes, meet knowledgeable staff, make connections with our feature and core exhibitions, and deconstruct classic camp themes with hands-on activities, all within the comfort of the Royal BC Museum. Pack a lunch, ditch the kids or grandkids, and get ready for a day camp like no other.

Night at the Museum Sleepover – Grown-Up's Only

SOLD OUT Adults, join us for a night’s worth of summer camp-inspired games, food and entertainment with a grown-up twist! Share ghost stories around the campfire, create nostalgic summer camp crafts and explore behind-the-scenes after hours by flashlight.

Bring your sleeping bag, pj’s, your favourite teddy and set up camp next to the mammoth or underneath the forest dome. Get ready for some midnight fun with your besties—you’ll want your friends to join you on this adventure, an experience like no other in Victoria.


Night at the Museum Sleepover - Family

Our annual Night at the Museum is a big old family sleepover. Come spend the night with us as we camp, tell stories, watch home movies, play board games and even have a pillow fight or two (he started it!). This fun and playful event will make for your most memorable museum visit ever. Youth must be accompanied by an adult. 10% discount for members.

Early Shift: Going Wildly into the New Year

On the last day of 2017, join us in our Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition and Natural History gallery for a party fit for the king of beasts.

Our annual family-oriented party takes a wild turn, as the museum plays host to animal antics, musical mischief and forest frolics.
