For 114 days, a team of explorers led by Pasquale Saturro and Gordon Brown face seemingly insurmountable challenges as they make their way along all 3,260 miles of the river to become the first in history to complete a full descent of the Blue Nile from source to sea. Run Time 45 min. Rated G

IMAX: Mystic India

Film Festival - Mystic India rediscovers India, a land of many mysteries and fascinations, the one land that all desire to see. Home of the Himalayas, the tallest mountains, India is our world's largest and oldest democracy, and contains an amazing wealth of wisdom, culture and spirituality. And within this earliest civilization known to mankind, lie hidden mystical secrets. It lies hidden in India's silent spirituality, making her a mystic land of meditation, contemplation and enlightenment.

For thousands of years, many have willingly left the comforts of their home and family and set off across this spiritual land in search of these secrets. Their aim has been to reach a deeper understanding of existence and share the meaning of life that would elevate the rest of humanity. Of all such journeys, perhaps none is greater than the true story of an 11-year old child yogi, Neelkanth, who took an extraordinary journey through the wonders of mystic India. An adventure of hardships and survival, faith and fearlessness undertaken by a child. The only one of its kind in the history of mankind. Run time 45 minutes. Rated G.

IMAX: The Living Sea

Film Festival - Celebrate the beauty and power of the ocean and explore our relationship with this complex and fragile environment. Shot in locations around the world and featuring spectacular footage from the islands of Palau, audiences swim along thousands of golden jellyfish and witness the bizarre spawning behavior of giant clams. Come face-to-face with humpback wales, life-size on the giant screen. Surf thundering waves in Hawaii and ride in a Coast Guard Rescue boat with cadets training to save lives at Cape Disappointment, home to some of the roughest surf in the world. And follow a Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) 3,000 feet down through the ocean depths to view strange creatures (one as long as a football field!) which live where sunlight never penetrates. Run Time 45 minutes, Rated G.

IMAX: The Magic of Flight

Film Festival - An IMAX Classic from director Greg MacGillivray. Experience the thrill of a Blue Angels air show while learning of the science and history of flight including early flight attempts, as well as the ultimate successful flight of the Wright Brothers in 1903. Discover how the Harrier jet mimics a bird's landing and take-off and witness naval aviators, with the ability to fly up to 1,300 mph, precisely land on an aircraft carrier, the most difficult maneuver in all of aviation. Rated G. Run Time 45 min.

IMAX: Wolves

Film Festival - Wolves tells the remarkable story of a most tenacious species. During eight months of filming that produced over 28 miles of film footage, the seven-man production crew of Wolves, led by award winning director David Douglas, followed their elusive subjects across remote landscapes in an effort to bring you the truth about wolves and their way of life. Rated G. Run Time 45 min.

IMAX: Wonders of the Arctic

Film Festival - The Inuit and their predecessors adapted and thrived for thousands of years in what is arguably the harshest environment on earth. Today, the Arctic is the focus of intense research. Instead of seeking to conquer the north, scientist pioneers are searching for answers to some troubling questions about the impacts of human activities around the world on this fragile and largely uninhabited frontier.

Wonders of the Arctic centers on our ongoing mission to explore and come to terms with the Arctic, and the compelling stories of our many forays into this captivating place will be interwoven to create a unifying message about the state of the Arctic today. Underlying all these tales is the crucial role that ice plays in the northern environment and the changes that are quickly overtaking the people and animals who have adapted to this land of ice and snow. Run time 45 min. Rated G.

IMAX: Forces of Nature

Special Screening - Forces of Nature will showcase the awesome spectacle of earthquakes, volcanoes, and severe storms as we follow scientists on their groundbreaking quests to understand how these natural disasters are triggered. 45 min. Not Rated.

IMAX: Great White Shark

Special Screening- It's a symbol of terror and extreme ferocity. It evokes nightmares among those who perceive it as a devouring machine, seeking its next prey. The great white shark, however, is itself on the verge of extinction, the victim of a merciless predator: Man.

Shot on location in South Africa, New Zealand, Mexico and California, the film looks to find the truth behind the mythic creature forever stigmatized by its portrayal in the world's first blockbuster movie, Jaws.

Great White Shark aims to reveal the strength and beauty of these animals by looking through the eyes of those who have been touched by their shark encounters: Mike Rutzen, South African shark expert, who swims with great whites in the aptly named Shark Alley; Chris Lowe, who has been tagging juvenile great whites off the coast of Los Angeles and discovering more and more of their secret life; and two record-breaking freedivers, Frederic Buyle and William Winram, who tag Great Whites by simply holding their breath and freediving with the sharks.

The film culminates in a direct encounter between man and shark.

Great White Shark concludes the oceanic trilogy begun by Wild Ocean and The Last Reef and brings nature's greatest predator to giant screens as never before... Rated G, Run time: 45 min.

IMAX: D-Day: Normandy 1944

Special Screening - June 6, 1944: The largest Allied operation of World War II began in Normandy, France. Yet, few know in detail exactly why and how, from the end of 1943 through August 1944, this region became the most important location in the world. Blending multiple cinematographic techniques, including animation, CGI and stunning live-action images, "D-Day: Normandy 1944" brings this monumental event to the world's largest screens for the first time ever. Audiences of all ages, including new generations, will discover from a new perspective in breathtaking IMAX® how this landing changed the world. Exploring history, military strategy, science, technology and human values, the film will educate and appeal to all. Narrated by Tom Brokaw, "D-Day: Normandy 1944" pays tribute to those who gave their lives for our freedom... A duty of memory, a duty of gratitude. Rated G. Run Time 45 min.

IMAX: Vikings: Journey to New Worlds

Special Screening - Vikings: Journey to New Worlds will be presented in conjunction with the exhibition We Call them Vikings, produced by the Swedish History Museum, on display at the Royal BC Museum from May 16 to Nov 11, 2014.

They came from the North and soon legends said that they did not know fear. They sailed icy oceans and narrow rivers, striking far inland without warning, without mercy. For hundreds of years, they were another name for "terror". However, the truth about the Vikings is far more complex. Much of Europe's traditions, technology and institutions come to us from these fierce men of the North.

Shot on location in Iceland, Greenland and Newfoundland, this greathtaking IMAX film joins the Viking warriors, explorere and settlers as they set out in search of new lands. The North Atlantic Sagas come to life as we follow Eric the Red and his son Leif Ericsson, first to Greenland and then on to North America. State-of-the-art digital graphics dramatically illustrate the unique shipbuilding techniques that were the key to propelling the Vikings across the Atlantic and into history. Rated G. Run Time 45 min.
