Photography Workshop for Adults

Professional photographers Garth Lenz and Shane Lighter will offer tips and guidance, helping you hone your skills and focus in on what matters. Suitable for beginners to advanced intermediates.

Kids' Art Class: Forest Animals Watercolours

Explore the beauty of watercolour painting, inspired by the collections of the Royal BC Museum. Participants will delve into fundamental sketching techniques, selecting an animal from the Natural History Gallery to draw on paper. Returning to the studio, we’ll breathe life into these sketches using the delicate medium of watercolours, transforming them into stunning animal portraits. The culminating artworks will be displayed outside the Natural History Gallery, showcasing the creativity and skill of the artists.

Kids' Art Class: Chinese Scroll Painting

This workshop will begin with a visit to the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition, where participants will choose their favorite animal portrait to inspire their Chinese scroll creation. We will learn about the techniques of Chinese scroll painting and explore the freedom of fluid brushstrokes using Chinese ink and watercolour. The completed scrolls will be displayed outside the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition.

Kids' Art Class: 3D Animals

Using the taxidermy animals from the Royal BC Museum’s handling collection as inspiration, participants will explore diverse artistic mediums to craft their own three-dimensional pieces. Kids can opt between working with polymer clay or cardboard box paper to sculpt their unique 3D animals.
