Natural History Learning Lab Themes:
- Amazing Adaptations - Grade K-3.
Learn about special features that help plants and animals survive in their environment.
- Super Skeletons - Grade 5-6.
Explore three different skeletal systems and choose one for a superhero character. - Natural History Enhanced Tour. Grade K-12, post-secondary and adult groups.
Experience a guided tour of the Natural History gallery with additional hands-on opportunities for learning.
History Learning Lab Themes:
- Exploring Identity Through the Lens of the Hayashi Photo Studio - Grade 4-10
Students uncover the stories behind historical photographs of the Hayashi Studio and what they say about identity and representation
- Object Based Learning - Grade 5 and up, suitable for IB and Theory of Knowledge students.
Using objects from the Royal BC Museum’s handling collection students will take part in close looking, make connections and engage with history!
- Museum Careers - Grade 6-9, International Students.
Learn about the different opportunities available at museums and reflect on how these roles are visible throughout the exhibition.
Feature Exhibition Lab Theme:
- Guide to the Afterlife in Ancient Egypt - Grade 7-10
Available September - December
Visit the feature exhibition Ancient Egypt: Obsessed with Life and engage in hands on activities with a museum educator.
Capacities: 1 class of 30 students (except the Enhanced Gallery tour of 20 students)
Adult chaperones ratios: 1:5 for Gr K-8, 1:10 for Gr 9-12 or two (2) for post-secondary
Self-guided visits to the other galleries and feature exhibitions or IMAX® Theatre are at an additonal charge and require a separate booking through our booking office. A link will be provided on your confirmation email.
